Hot on the heels of the TweetMeme Wordpress plugin, Scott has also done a Windows Live Writer Plugin for the TweetMeme Follow Button. Again, this works the same way as the Retweet Button. Wih this button there are a few options which are all clear and simple to use:

Thanks to Scott the TweetMeme button is now included as part of their Tweet This plugin for Wordpress.com users.

Wordpress.com blogs don’t let you submit any javascript, which means that Scott’s initial TweetMeme Plugin doesn’t work because the javascript is stripped. Well, he then found out that Wordpress have actually implemented a tag that can be put in a blog post, kind of like the Youtube tag. And just like the Youtube tag, he has created a plugin that works in the same way as the normal TweetMeme plugin, but just puts the Wordpress tag in. The options are pretty similar with some slight differences:

The TweetMeme retweet button is for website and blog publishers who want to encourage their audience to tweet their content on Twitter. The button shows a live count of the number of times your webpage or blog post has been tweeted. You may have already seen buttons like this one appearing on this and other blogs all over the ‘net:

Now, you can have it on your Squidoo lens too. Best of all, you don’t even need an account on Twitter, but you can help your visitors spread the word about your lens for you. This looks great in either the Guestbook module, or the Lens Love widget, or anywhere else you like.

And here’s the code you need (edit as required):

Notes:

• You must put in complete URL of your lens, for example: http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo. Don’t forget to put in both places, once for the link and again for the image.
• If you have a twitter account, then put your username after &source=, so that you get credit when others do a retweet. Otherwise, leave it blank.
• The code above will display the button on the left, with any following content wrapping around it. You can change it to be align=”right” if you prefer, or remove the alignment altogether.
• If you get a big question mark after adding it to your lens, you should double-check your code. Make sure there aren’t any spaces or blank lines were there shouldn’t be.
• Login to TweetMeme.com with your Twitter account, and see stats for all of your the lenses that have been tweeted.
• Don’t feel you have to add this to every single lens you own – start with just the few that get decent traffic and a semi-technical audience.

Adding the TweetMeme button to your blog is easy with our Blogger Gadget, just follow these simple steps:

1. Login to Blogger and navigate to your control panel (click “customise” on your Blogger bar)



2. On the Layout tab, choose Page Elements
3. In the sidebar, click Add a gadget; this will open a new window



4. The easiest way from here is to search for “tweetmeme” using the search box in the top right, click on either the title or thumbnail of the resulting match, then skip to step 8



5. Alternatively you can install using our gadget installation file:

6. Choose Add your own from the new window’s menu
7. Delete the text http:// from the box then paste in the location of our gadget installation file from step 5 and click Add by URL



8. The page will change to a form which you can use to customse the button and how it retweets, however no changes are necessary you can leave all the defaults



9. Press the Save button and you will return to Page Elements within your control panel with TweetMeme Retweet listed in the sidebar



10. You may now wish to re-position the TweetMeme Retweet gadget by dragging it within the Page Elements editor; we suggest at the top of your sidebar for best visibility
11. You can now return to your blog to see the retweet button installed

Congratulations, your readers can now easily retweet from your blog!

This plugin is a community created plugin by Lee Turner which allows you to easily add the Tweetmeme button to your blog posts in b2evolution and allows you to choose where the button should be placed along with being able to choose between the compact or normal style buttons and specify your source name. The choices available for the position are the top or bottom (or both) of your post along with positioning it to the left or right of the text.

Tweet Me

This is a Twitter specific plugin providing a quick and easy way for your readers to re-tweet your content.

The plugin offers the user the option to include or exclude specific articles, section or categories of content on a Joomla site, the option to exclude the button from the Frontpage of the site ( very popular) or whether to show the button in the Joomla Introtext or not.  Tweetme provides the ability to position the button on the left or right of the article title or the article text, and for advanced users you can insert CSS code to add further control of your button placement. You are also given the option to open Twitter in the current page or in a new browser/ tab along with the option of the standard or compact TweetMeme button.

Tweetsthis offers one option to exclude categories and allows the positioning of the button to be at the top or bottom of your post and is only compatible with the standard button.
