Ability to customize link rather then using button

  1. I would love to see the ability to create a custom text link rather then using the button. This would allow users to implement their own custom 16x16 icon (or you could provide one for us) to place next to other wordpress post related icons such as the comments icon or share this or any of the other 16x16 type icons associated with a post.

Ideally I would like to see a new widget button that looks just like a wordpress comments link. With the comment icon, the word comments, and the number of comments. In the case of tweetmeme it would be a 16x16 tweetmeme icon, followed by a link with the anchor text "retweet", and then followed by the total number of retweets in parentheses.

Come on tweetmeme, this is a no brainer! For the record...I am a UI guy.

  2. Is there a way to custom code this presently?

  3. Hi,

The really easy way to do this is to just modify our share button. http://help.tweetmeme.com/2009/07/15/feed-buttons/

Just swap out the share image for one of your own.

  4. But what if I dont want to use a different image? What if I want to use a simple text link? How do I return the total number of tweets?

What I am looking for is something similar to what these guys are doing http://gigaom.com/2009/11/14/android-this-week-google-maps-nav-on-the-droid-saygus-who/ Note to the "tweets" link next to the comments link.

  5. This is where our API comes in, you can get the information for the URL, which includes the count. Which you can use as long as you don't make a button that look like ours.

Make sure that you cache any calls to use because we do impose a API limit.

  6. It would be nice if there were a layman's way to do this.
