Change retweet attribution

  1. We like the button, but don't like the "RT @tweetmeme" that starts every tweet. Let us control what name shows there, and if needed add a via @tweetmeme to the end. Better yet leave @tweetmeme off the tweet and make the bubble that says "29 tweets" link to the http://www.tweetmeme.com/story.php?url= page for that URL.

  2. Hi, we are currently investigating if we are going to change the tweet text of the button and welcome any suggestions.

I don't believe pointing the button to the story page would go down very well. We would really love to do that but think we would get a lot of complaints.

  3. The rewtweet part of the button should go to Twitter with the tweet prefilled, as it does now. And maybe change "retweet" to "tweet it" and have no attribution or "RT" since they aren't really retweeting an existing tweet.

I'd expect the part that says "29 tweets" to show me those tweets, and that is what going to your story page would do. Plus I think that would be more consistent with the behavior of the Digg button and other similar buttons.

  4. I second some of what's already been said and would like to see the Tweetmeme attribution moved to the end of the tweet instead of as the RT starting point. What if the tweet had the first few words of content, the blog/site it was from, and the link followed by (via tweetmeme)

  5. I notice that you mention you're currently "whitelisting" Twitter accounts so it comes up as "RT @dannybrown..." for example.

How are you doing this and how will we be notified?

    Thanks.

  8. @jamesshicks @ibraun we are only currently whitelisting a small number of twitter accounts, we will notify people through out blog when we plan to expand this to include a wider range of accounts.

  9. Hey
First of all thanks for the tweetmeme plugin.
I just had a word with you on twitter, and I got to know you are accepting the request for using author twitter profile instead of @tweetmeme.

    My twitter profile is http://twitter.com/denharsh

I will really appreciate if you can include me in the list so that I can keep track of all the users who are retweeting my post.

I will highly appreciate that. To show my appreciation towards Tweetmeme wordpress plugin, I already come up with post on it.

Will look forward for your response and reply.
    Regards

  10. I run the http://twitdom.com website which is a Twitter Applications Database. We have over 700 Twitter applications listed currently.

I just started using this plugin and noticed the same thing. How can I get @TwitdomUpdates whitelisted?

  11. I'm the one who started this thread. As long as people are asking to be whitelisted, can you please whitelist @timberry ? http://twitter.com/timberry the blog where we want to add this plugin is http://timberry.bplans.com

  13. I use tweetmeme across a multitude of website (about 15) and love the plugin (haven't tested new version very much). Only problem I have ever had is if your "preview" your post before you publish, tweetmeme in the past excludes the title.

I'd love to have my latest account whitelisted and would be more then happy to be considered a beta tester of the new feature. I do understand you are only whitelisting a limited number of people at this point. I am hoping I can be among them considering I use this plugin on so many sites. If not I understand.

  15. Are you guys really willing to help?
Its been 3 days and no response from admin or mods?

  16. Sorry but we are only white listing a very limited number of twitter accounts. Currently we are only white listing major blogs with big followings. We hope to extend this out to everyone soon but cant give you any time frames on when this would be implemented. Please stay tuned to our blog, we will announce any news we have through there.

@bloggin4bucks In the latest release of the Wordpress Plugin we have fixed the preview error. We now also offer a service where you can tell tweetmeme to reping an URL if you believe any part of it is wrong. http://tweetmeme.com/ping.php

  18. Love the TweetMeme button. I've added it to my blog on Blogger (http://coolinfographics.blogspot.com)

I totally agree with the posts above. Instead of the tweet reading "RT @tweetmeme..." I think it should read with my ID (the owner of the blog) as "RT @rtkrum...". That way it drives more traffic to the blog and the author. I am perfectly happy if it includes "via @tweetmeme" at the end.

If whitelisting is the answer, I would love to be included when you open that up to more blogs.

    Thanks for a great button!

  19. I am the IT Director for a large publishing company, we were using the ShareThis Joomla plugin, but it didn't "play nice" with some of our other scripts. Last night we replaced it with the Tweet This Joomla plugin and would love to have our account added to the whitelis: @charismamag

We currently using CoTweet and would love to be able to track the stats for all of these re-tweet links in our CoTweet account.
