I want to use the button as the doorway to the history of Tweets pointing to my Tumblr blog. So why a seven day window? I really would like to be able to fetch every tweet referencing a post, or at least the last 20 or something.

We only store the last 7 days of data at the moment as this to the majority of users is the most relevant. We have some additional features on their way as well and potentially some of these might give you what you are after.
