Hi -

I'm about to develop a wordpress plugin which tracks social media coverage of posts/pages at different services and over the time.

I had a look at the API whitelist form, but the plugin of course makes requests from the webserver it's installed on, so the IP and Traffic range fields don't really make sense in this case.

So: How and is it possible for such a plugin to access your API?

- Currently max. 10 requests/hour are being sent.
- The url_info.json method is the only one being called.

Thanks in advance,
Mario

Hi,

I would like to make use of TweetMeme's API in my web app on Google App Engine . How do I identify my client (a web app running on GAE)?

I am getting zero for the x-ratelimit-remaining http header, when I have only made one API call to the TweetMeme urlinfo API.

Hello,

I tried accessing the Stories API through the following call :

http://api.tweetmeme.com/stories/popular.xml?page=2

However the result is not returned as an XML document (both in browser and in JAVA code). Am i doing something wrong?

Thanks

I read the API Guidelines (http://help.tweetmeme.com/2009/06/09/api-guidelines/) and the Terms of Use and am trying to make sense of them. I'd like to create a slimmed down version of the Tweetmeme button using your API with different graphics (same functionality, though), but make it so that all of the requests to Tweetmeme are made on the server-side and then cached for some time instead of on the client-side as they are now.

Is this allowed? I wouldn't be redistributing the code for this

Thanks,

I've just had to remove the tweetmeme button from my blog as you don't support SSL - this really surprised me. I did a quick check and the only thing I could find was a thread from last year.

So any update? That thread mentioned it becoming a paid for service if there was a very good business case. I can't understand the hesitance to implement it ?

How about if I give you a certificate for free for the api subdomain?

In the past this used to work
http://api.tweetmeme.com/stories/popular.json?media=all&count=100&domain=www.techcrunch.com

but now it's no different then
http://api.tweetmeme.com/stories/popular.json?media=all&count=100

The domain= would limit the data to tweets that linked to only that domain.

Also, what is the source of the excerpt variable when you fetch popular stories? Is this a tweet that someone had originally posted? If so, how can I find out the account the tweeted that

(note: all urls below obfuscated in an attempt to avoid annoyance of forum requiring moderation for any post containing a single url)

This API URL...
http___api.tweetmeme.com/url_info?url=http___www.cnet.com/8301-1_7-10404447-237.html

...returns data which is largely nonsensical...

title: (blank)
url: (blank)
created_at: 2009-08-28 08:28:12
url_count: 7191
tm_link: http___tweetmeme.com/story/155068411
comment_count: -2
excerpt: Distsrict 9 får fyra feta granar i Smp http___bit.ly/9PrLi #film #district9 #smp

...note that the tm_link results in a 404, and the bit.ly url goes to a completely different destination. the comments of "-2" is also somewhat numerous.

In reality, that "www.cnet.com" URL results in a 301 permanent redirect to the canonical URL...

http___reviews.cnet.com/8301-1_7-10404447-237.html

...where the tweetmeme button displays the correct tweet count (0) and has the correct tm_link...

http___tweetmeme.com/story/563333136/

I suspect if i tried the tweetmeme "ping" API to forcible recrawl the page, it would fix this instance of problem -- but it seemed like it might be more useful to leave it alone and point out the nonsensical data in the event that it may help track down the root of the problem and prevent future occurrences.

FWIW: asking the url_info API for data about the canonical directly does seem to work...
